It's been too long!

Ok, so it's been almost a month I think since I last wrote anything! Craziness! The big thing is that I have now started my new job. Last week was my first week and it feels like it was quite eventfull!!! I have a class of 28 5 and 6 year olds, all from quite a socially deprived area. I have twins from the Czech Republic who don't speak any English, a boy with OCD and my class is overun with boys, all of whom seem to have specific behavioural issues!! Put that together with the fact that last year, in their first year of school, they were just allowed to play all the time (it's a 'learning through play' year) - they really struggle starting this year when they have to sit down to do structured work, and you get an EXHAUSTING week!!! I seem to have spent my time making weird miming gestures whenever I'm talking to try and get the twins to understand what is going on, then having to repeat my instructions 2 or 3 times to the boy with OCD who has to ask again and again "what did you say?" "Do I have to sit down?" etc, and then having to deal with all these boys who have VERY dodgy behaviour! For the first time since I started teaching I was told to F*** off by a child (who is only 5). Oh, and I also had a child stick his tongue out of me because he was so mad that I had taken him away from his 'choosing time' because he was misbehaving!
I think I'm going to have my work cut out for me! I don't like this time of year with teaching becuase you're trying to get used to a new class (which you invariably don't like becuase you compare them to your last class who you were of course used to), and you're trying to sort out behaviour as well.......it just gets a bit crazy!
